  • Proposal for the Establishment of a New Undergraduate Major:  International Studies (BS)
  • The Latino/a Studies Minor shall be reviewed.  (Professor Enciso shall be invited to the meeting)
  • Michelle Herman will possibly be present to discuss Multidisciplinary Grant

  • Latino Stuides
    • Action:             Recommend keeping 25 credits
    • Professor Enciso will work with Oversight committee:  Updating – course details
  •  Interim advising information, due to staffing and scheduling needs, allowing for 20 credits in individual cases
  •  Add assessment piece                                                            
  •  Establish an Arts And Sciences Advisor
  • Grad Inerdisciplinary Seminar request for grant

  • Funding question:     
  • Funding from Grad school for GIS – she got course release to work on the seminar\
  •    Has used that time to meet, develop minor

Administration issues:

 

  •  Michelle’s chair has signed off on this – is in support
  •  Course needs to be developed to bundle with Grad school GIS
  •  Potentially she will submit course to Sub A Fall 06, to move through to CCI, then grad school, then to try to get on books before Winter Quarter in order to teach spring 07
  •    She wants to get lots of input for the syllabus
  • International Studies B.S.
    • General thought – appropriate for some tracks, not all. (not area studies)
  • The question is if courses get developed (i.e. Economics is interested) – where are you going to use the B.S. tools in the tracks.  
  • Students don’t predominately seem to imply any need for it.  
  •  Ask to see curriculum sheets how this would affect each of the areas?  Like p. 19 – to see the selection of appropriate science courses for an area track
  • Answer question 11 – grad studies –
