Valarie Williams sent the contingencies to twitty.1 on 01-06-09:

Please include the following two items for the course syllabus: 1. Please insert the boiler-plate language from the GEC Learning Objectives and Goals for both categories on syllabus, how it fulfills each, then individual course objectives. 2. We will send it to the Department of Theatre to Alan Woods and Anthony Hill for concurrence.

Contingency Copied from the 5/9/08 HUM CCC minutes for your convenience:
  1. AAAS 571 (revision)  (Kate- send with a transmittal history to Sub B)
    1. Changed name to eliminate “Mass” but added “Film”
    2. Request concurrence from Film
    3. Change title to match new title throughout proposal and syllabus
    4. Added details about research paper on p. 3 of syllabus as requested
    5. In-class presentation was clarified as requested on p. 4 of syllabus
    6. Please insert grading scale (A = 100-93, etc.) as you determine those values
    7. Attendance policy still confusing: is student allowed 3 unexcused absences or is attendance mandatory as stated in point 1. Course Requirements directly below, item 4.  Please make consistent.
    8. Committee queried the wisdom of assigning 20% of the grade in the Annotated Bibliography assignment.
    9. Topical outline was added, clarifications on time allotted to film showing was clarified
    10. GEC: Diversity in course must address all 3 topics: race/ethnicity, class, and gender, although not necessarily equally.  This likely won’t be an issue in Sub-C.

Hello Dr. David:

AAAS 571: Images of Black People in Mass Media Production has been
offered in AAAS for over 20 years, but I am willing to drop the word
"Mass" from the course title. I would like to substitute the word
"Mass" with the word "Popular." The new course title will be "Images
of Black People in Popular Media" or "Images of Black People in Film
and Popular Media." Do you find these titles acceptable?

Professor Newsum
