A&H Subcom AWC 2/9/09 res:

  1. Syllabus p.4, 3rd learning outcome from Ops Manual (p.31) is missing; please split out 2 and add boilerplate #s 2&3 for this category
  2. Assessment plan- how will you measure success of student learning on course level (aggregate)?  How will that data be fed back into course improvement over time? Please briefly address
  3. Clarification on course request form for 111:UG (110:U)- will these courses be offered to undergraduates only?

Janice, Ginnetta, and Diane,
Re your impressively thorough and interesting proposals for Ital 110/111, which were approved on Fri.: The Hum CCC raised an interesting point about course numbering, that is, the question of whether you had considered assigning 500-level nos. rather than 100-level nos. for these courses?
For example, the Portuguese courses numbered 501 & 502 can also be taken by grad students for credit (toward the language requirement in grad school). Janice and Diane, would you have a conversation as to whether that would be a preferable numbering system for the Italian sequence? I presume that the courses would be numbered Ital 501 & 502, Italian for Speakers of Romance Languages/Latin (is the latter also true?)
It is my understanding that no additional review of the courses would be required.
Best,
Julia Watson
