| Contingency | Dear John,
Subcommittee A of the ASCCI met recently to review your proposal for Film
Studies/German H670 and I'm pleased to report that the proposal was approved
with contingency.
We just had one question about prerequisites, or really the lack thereof. We
realize that you intend the course to appeal to a broad range of students but
as a 600-level course we thought that freshman English is probably not
sufficient as a prerequisite. Would also including a few other higher level
courses such as Film Studies 250 or History of Art 220 or German XX make sense?
When you get a chance, please let me know what you think about this. Note
also, that English 110 no longer carries the number 110.
The course seems like it would be a good candidate to include in the Popular
Cultures minor so you may want to explore that possibility. Barry Shank or
Linda Schoen would be good people to contact regarding this.
