A&H Subcom approves with contingencies 6/2/09; email to L Elliott & J Bach 6/15/09 res:

  • Please be more explicit with regards to how this course can be used for either the GEC or for the major.  As a suggestion, below is the language from the GEC advising sheets: “Note that History xxx is approved for Diversity; however, you can use this course to fulfill either Historical Study or Diversity, not both.”  Please edit syllabus accordingly

  • The Subcommittee notes that the course is applying as a new Honors course (no non-Honors 322 currently exists) as well as an Honors embedded course.  However, to run a non-Honors version (and the Honors Subcommittee agrees), a 322 new course request must come through the ECA and curricular approval system, and apply for Honors embedded status.  Basically, you would submit the 322 course nearly identical to this Honors version, but as you explain on pgs.13-14 of the statement of qualitative difference, take out the non-honors portions of the course (less reading, different assignments, etc).    No action is needed on this contingency

HUM CC Approved with contingencies 5/1/09; follow-up email to L Elliott, J Wu & J Bach sent 5/7/09 res:

  • Committee feels “Im/migration” will be confusing to students.  On course title remove slash for searchability because with a slash included, an on-line search for “Immigration” will not pull this course up. If “Im/migration” is intended, suggestion to put throughout (syllabus, etc) except on title and make consistent throughout documentation.
  • Cross-listed courses must have same title and subtitle on forms and syllabus
  • Needs A&S standard disability statement
  • Confusing that information about GEC and major requirements are in same paragraph, please separate.
