Concurrence

Human Nutrition expresses concern in 11-19-09 e-mail: “There are concerns with regard to providing concurrence for the Anthropology 597.05H among some of our Human Nutrition faculty as well as College of Education and Human Ecology administrators because of similarity in subject matter being taught in some Human Nutrition classes. We are certainly willing to have a dialogue about this matter if such is desired” (J. Kinder). ASC CAO suggests Human Nutrition discuss matter with Anthropology. ASC CAO willing to facilitate meeting. (e-mail to J. Kinder 11-19-09) bv

Sciences CCI approved with contigencies 10-9-09; e-mail follow-up to B. Piperata sent 10-12-09 bv:

(1) Assessment plan needs to explain how instructor is going to keep a record of feedback (could be a letter to chair or undergraduate committee).

Letter should contain:

  • What was discovered by carrying out assessment?
  • What changes were subsequently made, if any? (i.e., how are results going to be fed back into the course)

(2) Syllabus:

  • Problem with grading scale: D- does not exist: needs to be changed
  • Remove the mention of exams in the grades section (p. 2).
  • Tidy up reading list: numbers do not correspond to the actual numbers on bibliography (perhaps remove numbers altogether)

Slight clarification of the course syllabus:

  • Page 2 of the syllabus, section under Course Requirements and Goals (#2 Discussion) implies that discussion is a regular part of class. Yet the course schedule, page 4 of syllabus, lists discussions only for class 3 and 15 as well as a debate in class 8. Can you please clarify if discussions will take place in most or all class sessions?
