4-12-11: Rec'd feedback from L Krissek (excerpt from e-mail and see attachment):

  • To me, the primary issues of substance that remain are those raised by my Comments 4 & 5.  If the in-class presentation will be graded separately from the potentially modified PowerPoint that's handed-in during finals week, then the relative contribution from each of those to the grade should be stated explicitly.  If they will not be graded separately, then the description of how the presentation will be graded should be changed.
  • My Comment 5 is just for Prof. Tejwani's consideration.  For example, how would he handle the situation if all students in the class chose to do a paper, rather than a presentation?

4-1-11: Received revised syllabus addressing the following points (bv):

  • I have reduced the Class load by 50%.
  • I have reduced the  number classes of drugs discussed from 7 to 4.
  • I have eliminated giving first lecture on the basic concepts.
  • Instead, the basic concepts will be discussed in the class as they come to be discussed in the class.

10-29-08:

Subommittee feedback--chair will check revisions when submitted:

  1. Modify the attendance policy. Academic integrity statement seems heavy for this group of student. Depersonalize the course description. Reference other freshman seminar syllabi for change. Talk to the target audience.
  2. Topics: maybe go with fewer topics and not include all drugs? Would be interesting to include the effects of these drugs in movies/culture.
  3. Should move from a lecture to a seminar (discussion). Allow more time for discussion and cut down the readings. It can also prevent overload of info to the students.
  4. Provide more guidance for the partial grading from peer.
