4-6-12 meeting: approved with contingency: 2 concerns in the 4-year plan will need to be addressed:

• There is only one Social Science course listed in the plan. Two Social Science GE courses are required. [There may have to be prescribed GE courses for this major.]  
• The Aviation Capstone course (2^nd open option) currently does not have GE status. [One possibility is to submit the Capstone course for GE approval as a cross-disciplinary seminar under Open Options.  A better solution probably is to leave the Capstone course in the major and instead move one of the “social science elective” courses from the major to the GE, as a required course under Open Options.]

(1) Ask M. O’Kelly to come to ASCC meeting. (2) Add part in written proposal about where the field is going. (3) Re-word the beginning of goal 3 to say: “Students improve and apply social scientific analytical skills . . . ”

3-1-12: no vote taken: Obtain more input from Morton O’Kelly (or someone else)--written or in face. Problems we would like addressed: (1) cohesiveness of the major (how all Soc Sc courses come together/fit in the major); (2) how major helps strengthen the university and the college; (3) how this is a liberal arts program; (4) information about peer institutions: whether they have such a program and, if so, where.
