12-14-17: C Daniels to talk to S Cole & address following 2 points:

1. The learning objectives for the 4-cr and 3-cr courses are identical (no objectives has been removed or narrowed). Likewise, the level of detail in the syllabus does not help the panel see how the revised course covers less material or is less work—it would be possible to have a similar workload by delving into the slightly smaller number of topics in greater depth. The panel would like to see a statement about how the revised course actually requires less time or work. The statement could be as simple as explaining that required readings from the primary literature are no longer required and that this reduces the workload by X amount.
2. Page 4: Course attendance policy: ““In order to be successful in this course, attendance is expected for all lectures and mandatory for all in- class exams and projects.” The statement should likely be rephrased since exams are not held during regular class-time and there are no projects in this course.
