Administrative | 3-27-18: Rationale provided by the dept for the course: It will be a required class for both art education and arts policy PhD students--a program change is being put through soon. The rationale is that we used to have a proposal writing course years ago, and we got rid of it. We have since learned that students did indeed need more exposure to how to identify their research questions, select the proper methodology/methodologies, design a research trajectory and process, and a way to write up a well-designed and robust proposal for their dissertation committee. This course does expand on the former version, in that it involves sustained interactions with the dissertation advisor during the proposal writing course itself. |
