    1. Sedgwick – Terri Gustafson – Committee approves nomination

                                                               i.      noted that he writes more letters of recommendation than other faculty combined in the department, he’s active in Honors recruitment activities, MAPS new program committee member

    1. Honors – Anne McCoy – Committee approves nomination

                                                               i.      Inspired many undergrads to do research

  1. Curricular proposals
    1. Geo Sci 204 – approved

                                                               i.      Changing to GEC status as sequence in BA Physical Science category

                                                             ii.      Geo Sci prereqs touch on water as does Chem 101, the course has been used to students coming in with different background in water

    1. Earth Sciences 885 – approved with contingency

                                                               i.      For students doing research that is funded and not part of their thesis research

                                                             ii.      Question of what 699s are for – any student who wants to do research, it’s a way to provide credit for and keep track of students who are actively doing research

                                                            iii.      Question of why the course can be repeated to 60 hours – precedence for other courses is 10-12; suggested that the number of quarters a student might be doing such research should guide the maximum number

                                                           iv.      Contingency - Committee would like to see a short statement of justification for the maximum of 60 hours or a change in hours
