Notes
  1. Revisions to Comm 597.01

Approved with suggestions:

  • More detailed assessment plan will be useful for the future. The assessment plan should include both faculty and student perspectives.
  • Use the essays and term papers to understand how students are meeting the goals (with some appropriate rubric).
  • Specify more on what the goals are in the student essays.
  • How do the essays and term papers show that the students are getting the social diversity in the course? What are students able to bring as they go though this course? Do the students integrate different perspectives on what is going on in the class topic? More integration across disciplines.
  • How are you going to use the assessment data in the future?
  1. Spanish 367

Approved with suggestions:

  • You have not yet created an assessment plan that will be used in a meaningful way. More specification in the assessment plan is needed. Specify the process by which you will use the assessment. Specify how you will extract assessment data and how it will be used in improvisation of the course.  How are you going to make this a workable assessment?
  • How are you using the journals and diary keeping?

  • Course readings seem to be kind of light (40 pages?).

  • Very much focused on Latino/Hispanic population.

  1. Comparative Studies 294

Approved with suggestions:

  • You need to be developing an assessment plan if you plan to move this course as a permanent course. If you will offer this as a permanent course in the future, you will be asked to write an assessment plan.
  • Grading does not seem rigorous.
  • Expectations from students seem to be very light and general.
  • Evaluate the assignments in terms of social diversity.
  • As you think about turning it as a permanent offering, you will need to show how social diversity is playing out in the course
  1. Economics 110.01, 110.2 and 110.3(still waiting for the revised materials)

Pending:

Revised materials are disseminated in the meeting. Members will look at the old and new materials and take an email vote.
